A Brief Introduction of The Activity Situation of The Association For Rural Development of Kunshan Village

Based on the support from local government, social promotion and voluntarily participation of farmers, the Kunshan Village sub-association, established at Jul. 23 of 2005, is a new-type farmers’ mutual cooperation organization and has practiced independent operation, democratic management and legally developed various activities.

Now the sub-association has 116 enrolled members and 137 units share. We divided it into 3 centers and 18 teams according to the different districts, established a village-ship fund 137,000 which actually raised 96,060, included enrollment share 24,400, government allotment 41,660 and the donation 30,000. Since the establishment, the sub-association has unfolded all kinds of activities, for example:

1It has successfully organized various central meetings 38 times, vegetable and cole planting training 6 times, rabbit, pig, goose, chicken and duck breeding training 4 times, and professional in-field instructions more than 70 times early or late.

2It built 2 fabrication stations for smashing and ammoniating the plant stems and applied an appropriate management method confirmed by discussions to serve the villagers.

3It jointly cooperated with the committees of villagers and CPC to promote the public traffic construction at village-ship, and organized villagers to build 87 new methane-generating pits.

4It organized villagers negotiations and discussions on self-dependently devoting workerslabors and capitals to construct village roads 10 Km, and strived for the support of local government with a posture of the master’s ownership.

5In purchase and sale service, it helped the villagers jointly procure 228 kg maize seeds, 123 kg rice seeds, and totally reduced the costs amounted to more than 900.

6The members of the sub-association can borrow and repay the loans at the central meetings once 10 days, and until the end of Feb. this year, we have provided all kinds of loans 50 items total97,800 in which 60% was agricultural purpose and the rest 40% was used in living expenses. And the total repayment was 30,760.4, the mature repayment rate reached 100%.

The sub-association started the microfinance business from Aug. 2005, and till the end of Dec. 2005, the clear profits of these 3 months reached 1,111.34, and the share-holders gained 10 cash earnings per share according to the shares they held. And through democratic discussions, it withdrew each55.5 from the accumulation fund and the benefit fund.
