A Brief Introduction of the Activities of Jiuwan Village Farmers’ Mutual Cooperation Organization

On the base of the local government’s support, social promotion and the farmers’ free will, Jiuwan Village sub-association established in October 22, 2005 is a new-type farmers’ mutual assistance and cooperation organization, it practices the independent operation, self-service, democratic management and legally develops various activities.

Now the sub-association has 85 household-members and 100 units of shares and built a village-ship fund of ￥100,000, and actually raised ￥84,709, within that included enrollment share ￥28,000, the government’s allotment ￥28,000, donation share ￥26,000. Since its establishment, it developed lot of activities, e.g.:

1、It organized all kinds of activity meetings totally 10 times.

2、Under the support from local government, the sub-association with the committees of the villagers and CPC organized the villagers to discuss and establish a protective system for fruit-tree industry management of the Village. We clarified villagers’ responsibilities, rights, and benefits, and promoted them to participate in the establishment of industrial protection and management as well as the operation mechanism. Until now total 100 orchardist-households enrolled voluntarily in the fruit-tree protective teams. Now we have 5 protective teams and function effectively.

3、In marketing services, the sub-association effectively organized villagers joint procurement of 200 kg maize seeds, 60 kg of rice seeds, 15 tons of fertilizers, we not only resolved transportation difficulties of the villagers, the problem of goods’ identification, but reduced the villagers’ production costs as well.

4、Members of sub-association lend and repay the loans at each central meetings, and up to now we have provided various loans 19 items total of ￥48,200, of which 40% are productive purposes, and the living expenses for the rest 60%. The total repayment was ￥6,775, and the mature repayment rate reached 100%.
