UNDP officers had visited ARDY and particiated in a center meeting

On 27th of October, 2002, three exalted guests from UNDP, Mr.Zephirin Diabre, associate administrator of UNDP, Mr.Renaud Meyer, special assistant to the associate administrator, and Ms.Kerstin Leitner, resident representative in China, had honored greatly ARDY and many farmer members with their examination for ARDY and participation in a center meeting.

Despite the heavy tasks during his mission to China, Mr.Zephirin Diabre particularly hoped to visit ARDY and exchange with the project beneficiaries. Then after his attendance at an international conference in Shanghai,in the afternoon of October 26, he arrived in Chongqing City by a flight accompanied by Ms.Leitner and Mr.Meyer. The next morning, accompanied by Ms.Gao Xiangjun, executive director of ARDY, Mr.Diabre and his two companions left Chongqing at seven O'clock and had an eight-hour long and arduous trip to Yilong.At the lunch time, Mr.Gao Xianhai, the deputy mayor of Nanchong City, had met three guests and had a happy lunch with them. Approximately half past three p.m.,three guests had reached Zhengjiagou Village of Wupeng Township, and received the warmest welcome from 30 project beneficiaries in this farmer center and 36 center directors in Wupeng Branch of ARDY. After visited the repayment activity of farmer members and the participatory training on the topic of "healthy family excludes violence" presided over by Mr.Liao Chongyuan,a staff member of Wupeng Branch,using FAMA training method introduced from Laubach Literacy International in America, three guests had seriously heard the farmer members' speeches, tasted the enormous improvement in their family economy and social status after the implementation of UNDP project, and actively exchanged with the farmer beneficiaries. While heard that farmer member Zhou Yumei used CNY3000 from UNDP microfinance in purchasing a computer with the aim of family management and children education, Ms.Leitner said that "the project has made a woman living in a poor and remote mountainous area so foresighted in only three or four years,it has not occured to me, and I has not ever seen it before in UNDP project areas." Near the close of center meeting, Mr.Diabre had given a speech that "I'm very delighted in seeing the successful implementation and good results of UNDP project in the remote and poor Yilong County,Sichuan Province in China, here I delegate UNDP to promise to give the further support to ARDY and the poor farmers in Yilong.

In spite of dusk, three guests still examined the account materials and the management records of microfinance in Wupeng Branch.

Approximately eight o'clock in the evening, three guests reached Yilong County seat, and continued their works. After visited ARDY's headquarters,and a thorough understanding of microfinance management procedure and system of ARDY and excellent project result, they gave a high praise for ARDY's severe administration of UNDP project.
